Even though I cover this is my services page and my frequently asked question page, there are still queries that people have about how the personal shopping day works, so I thought it might be helpful to walk you through it from start to finish.
1. I'll be dressed in clothes that are on trend and not "me"
The whole point of personal styling is so we take into account what suits you personally. Yes it's good to look up to date, but that doesn't mean you have to dress in the latest "must have" item that GQ has dictated this month. I want you to look like the best version of you, and feel confident in whatever you're wearing. If that's classic and understated, that's absolutely fine.
Last week I was asked to be on the podcast of fellow stylist Lisa Gillbe. It's always lovely to connect with other stylists, and Lisa is one of the people I often recommend for women.I jumped at the chance to be on The Style Stories podcast where we discussed why men and women book personal stylists, plus which 5 pieces we would choose for a smart casual capsule business wardrobe for men or for women.
If you've ever thought about hiring a personal stylist like me, but aren't quite sure if it's worth it and whether you'll benefit, then I wrote this blog post for you! Read on to see how I might be able to help you get your wardrobe in shape, and if you have any questions, then please do get in touch.
This week I have a slightly different blog post from usual, as I was very excited to do my first podcast interview this week.
I talked to Yang-May Ooi from Tiger Spirit on her South London Voices podcast about my personal styling and shopping services, how they work and exactly what I do and who I do it for. I explained how I help ordinary, everyday guys rather than celebrities, which is still what many people automatically associate personal styling with.
If you've already found a style you're happy with......congratulations! This is exactly what I try to do with my clients - I help them to find their own style and learn how to identify the details so they can say yes that feels very "me" and they can then repeat the process.
I believe true style is when you have a consistent look from the most casual ie: wearing swimshorts on the beach to the most formal ie: a dinner jacket at an event and all the scenarios in between. As well as discovering what your own true style is and wearing things that reflect that, in order to be truly stylish you also need to ensure your clothes fit well, suit your colouring and body shape and are appropriate to the occasion.
Whilst doing a personal styling session with a client last week, he asked me "What are the correct strategies for shopping?" A great question and one which I thought would make a good blog post that others would be interested in too.
I thought about what I do when I take a client on a personal shopping trip and how you can do this for yourself.
Not sure if you should book in with me or choose another type of personal styling or shopping service?
If you've seen other menswear styling services around and are wondering which option is right for you and exactly how we all differ from each other, I've set out to explain who does what, along with the pros and cons of each so that you can clarify which service will suit you best.
