As a larger man, you might feel limited on where you go shopping and stick to the same shops all the time, which let's face it, can get a little boring. I took a client shopping last week who had a 40" waist and discovered some new and perhaps unexpected places to go. He was rather delighted to find some new places to go.....and I was happy to introduce him to them!

I recently received an email from a friend who was delighted that she'd finally modernised her husband and got him into some slim fitting trousers.
Ironically, the very day that she sent me that message, I'd been at a menswear event (Permanent Style pop up at Fortnum & Mason) where a large majority of the men, admittedly mostly worked in the fashion industry, were wearing pleat front, wider legged ones.
So what on earth should you be wearing? Wide? Skinny? In between? Which will look modern and which is dated or too fashion led?
One of the blogs I previously wrote about this topic is one of the most read posts I have, so it seems there are a lot of guys having the same problem - where do you buy trousers when you have large muscular thighs and calf muscles?
The client I took shopping last week had just this issue - his thighs measured 67cm and his calves 45cm and though things are moving away from slim cuts, it's still predominantly a slimmer cut that's around. Luckily, we did manage to find a selection to fit though. Here are the results of what we found that fitted his large thighs and calves.
If you're not yet ready for the 'fugly' trainer trend that's been sweeping the catwalks, and would prefer to keep it simple and classic then go for some white leather trainers. Here are my top 3 picks, with details on how to combine them with tailoring:
It's a common problem to have a long body and short legs. There's nothing much you can do about this at the gym or anywhere else so the best way is to address it is to learn how to visually balance out your proportions and elongate your legs as much as possible. This in turn will make you look taller and slimmer. Here are 7 tips on how to do it:
Whilst batting some ideas round with a client who'd recently signed up to my subscription service - he told me he'd been searching for clothes for people who ride bikes in cities & had discovered Rapha, a brand that not only do cycling clothes but office friendly ones too.
I did some research into more brands and here are some suggestions on others who produce great urban cycling clothes that will be practical for your journey but won't look out of place once you've jumped off your bike and headed into the office.
What's the alternative when you're looking for trousers that aren't jeans or chinos, but are also not as plain as a lot of suit trousers tend to be?
I like the ones that have some sort of texture to them or a small micro pattern. I find this adds a bit of interest when wearing a plain shirt but is versatile enough to go with lots of things too.
Here are some I found coming up for the new season.

Where to shop for trousers and jeans if you have large thighs.
September is back to school month, where everyone returns to normality after the summer holidays. Taking this theme, I've styled up some outfits from that most traditional of fabrics - grey flannel.
We're all praying that we might get a summer this year, and let's hope those prayers are answered as there's some delicious things in store for Spring Summer 2013. I've picked out some of the trends from the catwalks and though I may have missed out some of the major ones (hello foil sweet wrapper inspired trenches by Burberry Prorsum) that's on purpose, as I wanted to include things that I could imagine my clients actually wearing.
