The sales are a great time to update your basics. Here I've chosen some simple items that wouldn't go amiss in most guys wardrobes.
However, each person is different and if you don't think these are for you, have a think about what your basics would be and stock up on those in the sales. It may be a camel roll neck rather than a charcoal crew, or a duffel coat rather than a peacoat, but whatever it is it should be something you know you'll wear over and over again and it goes with lots of things you already have in your wardrobe. It won't necessarily be the most exciting thing you buy this year but don't fall into the trap of buying something offbeat just because it's reduced and then never wearing it.
As a larger man, you might feel limited on where you go shopping and stick to the same shops all the time, which let's face it, can get a little boring. I took a client shopping last week who had a 40" waist and discovered some new and perhaps unexpected places to go. He was rather delighted to find some new places to go.....and I was happy to introduce him to them!
If you haven't already bought yourself a new pair of shorts this summer, then now's the time to do so - it looks like this unseasonally warm weather might be here to stay - hooray!
But don't just get the first pair you see on the rack, give it a little bit of thought. Or if you can't be bothered, then no problem - I've done it for you. Here's a guide to choosing your summer shorts - what to look for and where to get it according to your body shape.
Who doesn't love a bargain from time to time? If you have a favourite brand then it's definitely worth finding out if they have a sale store or have a sample sale from time to time. It's sometimes a little tricky to find out about them as they're not obviously advertised on the brands websites so I've given you a helping hand with a round up two sale stores and a website with up to date info on sample sales that I think it's definitely worth having on your radar:
One of the blogs I previously wrote about this topic is one of the most read posts I have, so it seems there are a lot of guys having the same problem - where do you buy trousers when you have large muscular thighs and calf muscles?
The client I took shopping last week had just this issue - his thighs measured 67cm and his calves 45cm and though things are moving away from slim cuts, it's still predominantly a slimmer cut that's around. Luckily, we did manage to find a selection to fit though. Here are the results of what we found that fitted his large thighs and calves.
Whilst doing a personal styling session with a client last week, he asked me "What are the correct strategies for shopping?" A great question and one which I thought would make a good blog post that others would be interested in too.
I thought about what I do when I take a client on a personal shopping trip and how you can do this for yourself.
Shopping is not many men's favourite task, let alone if you're not a "regular" size, so often these guys enlist in my help. I recently had successful shopping trip with a shorter gentlemen so In order to help anyone with similar proportions, I thought it'd be useful to share my findings with you in this post "Where to Shop for Short Men"
I select a range of clothing and accessories that work well together to form a capsule wardrobe. You can see the 16 outfits that I made up using them below. You may already have some of these items in your wardrobe, and I hope this will provide ideas on how to wear and style them differently.
