London Collections: Men Spring Summer 2015

I know, I know - we haven't even had Spring Summer 2014 yet and already we're galloping ahead looking at what's going to be out next Summer. But attending London Collections: Men earlier this week was so exciting, I just had to share it with someone!

Richard James

I've been a Richard James fan for a long time now, and my admiration is still going strong. I suppose it's because it's right up my street - classic with a twist - whether that's a print or an unusually bold colour.

This collection was based on the Desert Rats and as the press blurb says "This is a collection that combines sharp, deftly detailed military precision in tailoring with innovations and easy wearing durability and adaptability in casual wear".

Here are some of my favourite looks (notice the wider leg trousers in the last image - thankfully seen at lots of shows, which is a welcome relief from the slimmer cuts for my clients with chunkier thighs).

See all the images from the show or watch the video here.

Margaret Howell

Utter simplicity is how I would describe Margaret Howell's collections. Not a headlining fashion leader but always producing solid modern classics, that are inherently wearable and suitable for any age. According to the write up on Style.com her personal favorite look from the show was the oversized grey mac over a white pinstriped shirt (see below), "simply because she loves the combination of sharp white and grey". And a large proportion of men, I suspect, would wholeheartedly agree with her. See the complete collection here.

Hackett

A failsafe favourite, you know you can rely on Hackett to come up with beautifully traditional tailoring and sportswear. The show was called "Gentlemen's Sport" and pays homage to the great sporting events of the British summer calender and puts the stylish male spectator centre stage.

And stylish he most definitely will be if dresssed in these impeccable Hackett get ups, don't you think? See the rest of the images from the show or the video here.

Burberry Prorsum

I absolutely love this collection! The clever mix of fabrics, tone on tone colours and tailoring mixed with trainers, and the best bit for me is the denim jackets layered under blazers  - which I often used to wear myself (and might go back to, having seen this!). Using Bruce Chatwin, writer and traveller, as his inspiration Christopher Bailey has created the perfect fantasy of how a writer should look. I can't quite see my clients wearing the floppy hats, but I hope I get the chance to buy some of the other pieces with them. Check out the all the looks from the show here.
