Shopping is not many mens favourite task, let alone if you're not a "regular" size, so often these guys enlist in my help.
I recently had a successful shopping trip with a shorter gentleman who's proportions were: Height 5'4" Chest 42" Waist 40". In order to help anyone with similar proportions, I thought it'd be useful to share my findings with you:
By far the best, and pretty much the only shirts that fit with no alterations (yes, NO alterations!!) were Purple Hat shirts. Especially designed for guys that are 5'8" and under, they were perfect.
At the moment it's a one man band, managed part time so the choice is a little limited but the founder Ashley promised me they will be bringing out business shirts later on this year. Hooray!
The blazers from Peter Werth came up shorter - especially the 3 button ones which were a boxier fit - perfect for what we wanted. The one above measured a nice neat 27.5" from back neck to hem.
Also some of the knitwear and t-shirts were a good fit needing no alterations. We also bought shirts though we still had to have the length and cuffs altered.
I actually learnt from my client that the fit of Oscar Milo was very short. He'd found a suit in there (by accident!) which was a perfect for him. When I popped in the staff verified that their "regular" length was actually more of a "short" length, measuring just under 29" from back neck to hem.
It was a revelation to my client that a slim fit in these Linea Aiden jeans was way more flattering than a loose fit and made him look taller and slimmer. Unfortunately we still needed to have them shortened as they only came in a regular length but as they looked so good we decided it was worth it.
Spoke London are also worth a mention, as you can order any combination of waist and leg length and they go up to size 38" in the waist and down to 28" in the leg length. There are various styles, with 3 different fits on the leg and plenty of colours to choose from.
For any alterations that need doing, I highly recommend Savva Tailors who did a superb job for my client.
I do hope this is useful but if you hate shopping and would like someone to do all the research for you to narrow down the search and make shopping fun again then please do get in touch and I'll be delighted to help.
