About Me

Sarah photo

Hi, thanks for visiting.

I'm Sarah Gilfillan and in 2009, I started Sartoria Lab as I noticed there were very few options of Personal Shopping and Styling services specifically for men. If you, like the majority of men I know, dislike shopping then I figured you might like to have some help with your wardrobe and shopping needs.

I've always worked in the fashion industry, and for many years that was as a menswear photographic stylist. I worked on menswear editorial pieces for magazines, on TV shows and for many PR and advertising campaigns. I also worked with various bands and celebrities including Ewan McGregor, Coldplay, Chris Moyles, Badly Drawn Boy and Rufus Sewell, and went on lots of great trips around the world working for different brands.

It was fun and exciting but I always had this feeling that something was missing. Now I've found it - I absolutely love helping people. Personal styling perfectly combines this with my love of clothes, and particularly menswear. I was always fascinated by men's clothes, especially traditional and vintage styles and love the fact that there's often a story to the details they carry and the way they're worn.

Helping guys like you to upgrade their image to send out the right message, whilst finding their own individual style is a brilliant job to have and most satisfying. I love seeing the confidence it brings people when they feel great about what they're wearing and the best thing is hearing about the compliments they receive afterwards.

Many years ago I did a Colour Analyis course with First Impressions in Cambridge and noticed what a massive difference it made to people to wear the right colours. Then before I launched, I updated and added to my skills by training with Aston + Hayes in London in Men’s Colour and Style Analysis.

I'd love to be able to help you with your style, so if you're thinking about getting some advice, then please do get in touch for a chat and to ask any questions you may have. Or if you'd prefer to get to know me a bit more first and see if I'm the right person to help you, then check out my style tips which I update fortnightly, or come on over to Instagram.

And if you'd like to get my style tips direct to your inbox (and sometimes a special offer!) or find out "How to dress in smart/casual without dressing like your dad" then you can sign up here.

"I had a great styling session with Sarah this week. She was bright and friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and never made me feel like an idiot with the questions I was asking."
