It's turned so cold this weekend in the UK hasn't it? We're definitely taking a deeper dive into winter now, so it's time to put your thicker knits into rotation.
What? You don't have any??? Or maybe the moths have attacked your favourites? (If they have you can get it repaired here).
Let's sort that out right away then. Keep reading for my sweater picks for this winter.......
The temperatures have plummeted this week, and jackets & coats will be top of my clients' shopping lists.
I've posted many times before about Autumn Winter jackets for men, and the ones I feature seem to follow a rough pattern, and nearly always include a bomber jacket, a peacoat, a mac, and more recently a heavier over-shirt or chore jacket.
I always try to find ones that are a smarter alternative to your "dog-walking" jackets (aka functional, waterproof jackets that aren't particularly stylish) but not as formal as an overcoat, as this seems to be the gap in a lot of my clients' wardrobes
If the weather could make up its mind, that would be super helpful - it's been pretty tricky to know what to wear recently hasn't it? Eventually it'll get cooler though, and what easier way to "Autumise" your wardrobe than by adding an item in corduroy to it?
So, in readiness for the 'cord festival' that my client nearly convinced a few shop assistants was a real event (!) I've picked out some of my favourite pieces from the things I've seen in the shops.
There's a few things I get asked quite often when I take my clients on personal shopping trips - and one of them is "what can I wear instead of jeans at the weekends?"
And my answer? Cargo or carpenter pants. They were absent in the world of fashion throughout the naughties and any self respecting follower of fashion, wouldn't have been caught dead in them, but now cargo or carpenter pants - those brilliantly practical 90s style trousers - are right back in fashion.
I've been having a "linen-fest" with my clients on summer personal shopping trips for men! We've bought linen trousers, shirts, suits, t-shirts etc, so I thought I'd do a round up on here of some lovely linen pieces I found on sale at Mr Porter.
You might love or hate the crumpled effect of it, but there's no denying it's cool and comfortable to wear in summer. If you hate the creased look, then opt for a blended fabric instead which will help to disperse the wrinkling, but if you love it....then snap these pieces up whilst you can!
Not sure if the weather here in the UK is ever going to catch up with what month it is - I mean it's May and some days it's still been quite nippy.....what you need is some pastel knits!
Click through to see what I've chosen, to work now, and on summery evenings when you need another layer, plus you might even surprise yourself by loving a new colour, that's not navy or grey :-)
Quite often when I do a personal shopping trip for men, clients have asked if I can find them comfortable trousers that don't crease, as they're travelling for business or pleasure. They still want to look smart, but want the trousers to be easy to look after during their trips.
I've been asked this on a couple of recent men's shopping trips, so in this post I share my go-to places to shop for these type of trousers.
Do you want to bring a bit more colour in your wardrobe now Spring is in the air? Are you over the dark blues, blacks and greys and looking to freshen things up as the days get lighter? The easiest way to add a quick shot of colour to your wardrobe is with a coloured casual shirt. So, let's get started.........
The day I decide to look for some Spring jackets to write about, is the day that it snows! In March! I'm sure Spring is coming soon though, so let's get ahead of the game shall we? Here's my pick of jackets for this Spring.......
Do you feel like everything in your wardrobe needs updating and replacing? Then this blog post should help. I've got together some key pieces you need for a capsule wardrobe, which includes a number of items I've bought over and over again with clients......
Do you have any casual trousers that are not jeans? It's nice to have a substitute to wear so you don't get bored with your wardrobe, and with that in mind, I've gathered some suggestions together here for alternative options to jeans, that are just as comfy and practical. Which would you go for?
As the sales have already started, I've picked out a selection of things I love (which you could wear as a complete outfit if you like all of them too) from the things that are currently on sale. You might not get them in time for Christmas but it'll be fun to have some new clothes in January to see you through the rest of the cold, winter months.
