Men's knitwear picks for Winter 2023
Share
It's turned so cold this weekend in the UK hasn't it? We're definitely taking a deeper dive into winter now, so it's time to put your thicker knits into rotation.
What? You don't have any??? Or maybe the moths have attacked your favourites? (If they have you can get it repaired here).
Let's sort that out right away then. Keep reading for my sweater picks for this winter.......
I just love the colour of this sweater and look how good it looks on my client! We saw this in Slowear but he decided to think about it and then as luck would have it, we found it on Farfetch for £180 instead of £330 - bargain! (Prices vary dependent on size though).
It'll look great with your default black or blue jeans for casual weekend wear or you could wear it with some charcoal flannel tailored trousers for one of your upcoming Christmas do's.......the pine green is perfect to get you into the Xmas spirit!
Zanone virgin wool fine knit jumper - Farfetch - £180
Dark brown makes a nice change from navy and grey, and I noticed lots of it around in the shops when I was prepping for a client the other day. It's especially good if you have warm colouring........and if you don't know, click here.
I really like the retro feel of these collared sweaters that are popping up everywhere too. It makes me think of 1950s styles, but there were also quite a few around in the 1990s - so take your pick as to where you take you inspiration from.
The collar of this one has a subtle stripe to it, so keep it simple with a white crew neck t-shirt underneath, your favourite jeans, and a tweed or houndstooth coat and you're sorted for your weekend wear. Super affordable too!
Contrast tipped brown merino polo shirt - Cos - £95
This picture of Paul Mescal popped on Instagram - how cool does he look in this sweater?
You've gotta be pretty brave to wear the pink (though after the Barbie movie you might be embracing it and after all, pink did start out as a boys colour), but not to worry, as there are other colours to choose from like this cream, and also green and yellow.
Inspired by knits issued to the military, the details of the contrast knit of the "name badge" and the elbows is in a gorgeous seed stitch. I can't remember how I first discovered this brand, but I just love it, don't you?
Elbow patch mock neck sweater - L. E. J. - £345
A friend of mine has this sweater and it's fab. You really need to size down though, as it comes up BIG!
The hand knitted look of it really appeals to me, plus the pocket detail which somehow gives a vintage feel to it. It's quite thick so it'll be super cosy for winter.
Wear it with black wide leg trousers and chunky trainers for a more fashion forward look, or keep it simple with slim jeans and Chelsea boots.
Grey knitted wool zip polo shirt - Arket - £87
If I was a bloke, I'd definitely wear this.......in fact I have one very similar! As you probably know if you've been following my blog for awhile, NN07 is one of my favourite brands - it's understated and very wearable.
I think the way the Mr Porter team have styled it here is perfect - super simple clean lines, which would look great for work if you don't have to dress up too much for the office, or going out to a bar.
Purple Lee 6598 merino wool blend sweater - NN07 at Mr Porter - £185
If your sweaters have all been munched by moths or have seen better days, and you'd like an upgrade of these and other winter wear, then book in below! There's not much time before Christmas now so if you'd like to do it before then, don't delay!
Wondering whether to book in? Here's what a recent client wrote in a group WhatsApp chat about me last week :-)
"I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Sarah Gilfillan at Sartoria Lab.
If anyone was considering acquiring her series, I'd strongly urge you to act on the consideration.
I went shopping with her for a day last week and she was amazing - real expertise both on shops and on what I was looking for.
Also been giving extensive support re finding new glasses and online clothes shops.
I've spent a year failing to find a great pair of specs and now I think I'm probably going to buy 3!
Thanks again Sarah"
